Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 1/2 cup Masoor dal


  • 1/2 cup toor dal


  • 1/2 spoon cumin


  • 1/2 spoon sesame seeds


  • 1/2 spoon hing


  • 10 methi seeds optional


  • 1 spoon ghee


  • 1 spoon oil


  • 3 crushed garlic


  • 1/2 turmeric


  • 1/2 spoon salt.


  • 5 to 6 curry leaves


  • 1/2 spoon urad dal


  • 3 green chillies


  • 3 dried red chillies

Directions

  • Take a pressure cooker and fill it with 4 cups of water. Now, add toor dal, masoor dal in water. Add salt, turmeric, cumin, methi, salt, crushed garlic, ghee, hung and chillies in cooker. Mix it well and close the cooker lid and cook it for 5 whistles in medium flame.
  • Now take a non stick pan, add oil. Add curry leaves, urad dal, sesame seeds, cumin and dried red chillies until it turn little brown and smell the aroma.
  • Add the tadka to the cooker and mix gently. Simple quick dal is ready. There are many ways to prepare dal. You can also garnish it with some more coriander leaves while serving. This recipe is for the starters.
